Tragic Fire in Malviya Nagar Claims 20 Lives, CM Rekha Gupta Expresses Condolences

New Delhi, June 3: A devastating fire at a restaurant in Malviya Nagar has resulted in the tragic loss of at least 20 lives. So far, approximately 37 individuals have been rescued. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta expressed her sorrow over the incident, stating that the Delhi government is closely monitoring the situation. All necessary medical assistance and support are being provided to the affected families.

In a post on the social media platform X, Chief Minister Gupta wrote, “I am deeply saddened by the significant loss of life and property in the horrific fire incident in Malviya Nagar. My heartfelt condolences go out to the grieving families. I pray for the swift recovery of the injured and for strength and courage for all those affected by this heartbreaking tragedy.”

She further mentioned, “Upon receiving news of the incident, teams from the Delhi Fire Service, Delhi Police, DDMA, CATs ambulance service, and other emergency response agencies were immediately activated to commence rescue and relief operations. Thanks to their prompt action, many individuals were safely evacuated from the affected premises. The Delhi government is keeping a close watch on the situation and providing all necessary medical assistance and support to the affected families.”

During this difficult time, Chief Minister Gupta assured that the Delhi government stands firmly with the affected families. She stated, “We are committed to providing every possible assistance to those impacted by this tragedy.”

The fire broke out at the ‘Lemon Green Restaurant’ in Malviya Nagar on Wednesday morning. The fire department received the alert around 8:50 AM, prompting immediate rescue and relief efforts. Ten fire engines and emergency vehicles were dispatched to the scene. Three individuals were rescued from the basement and transported to the hospital. So far, nearly 37 people have been saved, and a search operation is ongoing under the supervision of the principal director.

Witnesses reported that smoke filled the restaurant following the outbreak, causing several individuals to lose consciousness. Police, firefighters, and ambulance personnel arrived promptly to evacuate people safely. Those who were unconscious were taken to Max Hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment.
