Patna, August 2 (H.S.) — The monsoon is set to take an intense turn across Bihar on Saturday, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing an orange alert for all 38 districts of the state, warning of heavy rainfall and strong thunderstorms.

Since early morning, major cities including the capital Patna, Gaya, Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur, and Samastipur have been experiencing heavy downpours. Several areas are already witnessing waterlogging. Outside Patliputra Railway Station and Patna Junction, water has accumulated up to 2 to 3 feet, severely affecting transportation. Continuous rainfall has also been reported in Samastipur and Nalanda.
The IMD has particularly warned of very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in northeastern districts of Bihar. The public has been advised to remain alert and take necessary precautions.
According to the weather department, thunderstorms and lightning are likely in 28 districts of the state on Saturday. Winds may blow at speeds up to 50 km/h, potentially damaging trees and electric poles. Specific alerts for heavy to extremely heavy rainfall have been issued for Araria, Kishanganj, Katihar, Madhepura, and Purnia. Samastipur, Begusarai, Supaul, Khagaria, Munger, and Bhagalpur are also expected to receive heavy rain.
The IMD has stated that the monsoon trough is currently passing over Darbhanga in Bihar. Due to this, moisture-laden winds are likely to cause heavy rains across the state till August 5. On Saturday, districts such as Buxar, Bhojpur, Rohtas, Bhabhua, Aurangabad, and Arwal may also experience heavy showers. Thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds in these regions may disrupt normal life.
