Jharkhand BJP Demands White Paper on CM Sorens Foreign Tours and Investment Claims

Ranchi, May 19: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has raised concerns regarding Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s foreign tours and the investment claims made during these visits. The party is demanding a white paper from the state government on this matter.

At a press conference held at the party’s headquarters in Ranchi, BJP spokesperson Pratul Shahdev stated that the Chief Minister’s trips to Sweden, Spain, Davos, and the UK were promoted as opportunities for significant investment and job creation. However, tangible results have yet to materialize on the ground.

Shahdev noted that the government had claimed thousands of crores in investment proposals and a substantial number of jobs would be created following these foreign tours. Despite these assertions, there has been no establishment of major industries or visible job creation.

He accused the government of failing to advance projects such as the convention center in Ranchi, announced in collaboration with the Spanish company Fira de Barcelona, and other proposals related to battery storage plants, electric bus and truck manufacturing, and sports training.

During the Davos visit, investment proposals from major companies like Tata Steel were highlighted, along with potential agreements with firms such as Tech Mahindra, Hitachi, Infosys, Welspun, and Lulu Group.

The BJP alleges that most of these projects have not seen any concrete action to date. Shahdev further stated that the government made significant claims regarding investment proposals from the Jindal Group, Odisha Alloy, Rungta Group, Amalgam Steel, Ambuja Cement, and Sunshine Group, yet there has been no completion of land acquisition processes or a clear roadmap for these projects.

He emphasized that if these investment proposals were genuinely implemented, industrial activities would increase in the state, providing jobs for the youth. The BJP has called for a detailed white paper on the expenses incurred during the Chief Minister’s foreign trips, the investment agreements made, and their current status. Ashok Bardai, the co-media in-charge of the BJP, was also present at the press conference.
