Norwegian Ambassador Praises Delhi Metro Experience: I Should Have Done This Sooner

New Delhi, March 16: The Norwegian Ambassador to India, Me-Ailin Steiner, took a ride on the Delhi Metro over the weekend. She shared stunning photos and video clips of her journey on her official X account on Monday. Steiner praised the metro’s operation and cleanliness wholeheartedly.

She posted six clips, each lasting between six and seven seconds. Although the ambassador did not provide a detailed account of her trip, she shared joyful moments from her experience.

In the first clip, she is seen entering through Gate Number Two at Khan Market, while the second clip captures the swiftly moving Violet Line metro, heading towards Kashmiri Gate. A photo of her reveals a sparkle in her eyes, reflecting her delight, which she expressed in words.

In a succinct post on X, she wrote, “This weekend, I traveled on the Delhi Metro for the first time! Fast, clean, and absolutely fantastic. A great way to explore Delhi. I should have done this sooner! I will definitely use it again.”

Earlier this year in January, Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi and Japan’s Ambassador to India, Ono Keiichi, also visited the Delhi Metro. They traveled from Central Secretariat to Patel Chowk. Later, the DMRC reported that this visit was part of a technical and financial cooperation agreement (JICA) between India and Japan, which included appreciation for driverless trains and safety features.

The DMRC has also welcomed military delegations from 32 countries that sent troops to the United Nations, who rode the metro in October 2025. The delegation was in the capital for a conference.

Military officials, including senior representatives from countries like Australia, Italy, and France, traveled on the Violet Line from Central Secretariat to Red Fort with Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi. They praised the convenient travel and the efficiency of the Delhi Metro project and its implementation.
