Noida, December 9. Residents of Delhi-NCR experienced some relief on Tuesday morning as surface winds helped reduce air pollution levels after several days of toxic air. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), surface winds blowing at 15 to 25 km/h have dispersed pollutants to some extent.

The increased wind speed has lifted pollutant particles into the upper atmosphere, which is reflected in the Air Quality Index (AQI) readings. The region had been witnessing pollution levels ranging from ‘very poor’ to ‘severe,’ but today multiple monitoring stations reported AQI levels below 300.

In Noida, improvements were noted with AQI near 255 at some stations. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) and Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board data showed AQI values of 255 in Sector-62, 313 in Sector-125, and 307 in Sector-116. Delhi also saw improvements at several locations.

Several Delhi monitoring stations recorded AQI below 300. Reported figures include Pusa at 270, Shadipur at 239, Vivek Vihar at 323, Wazirpur at 320, and RK Puram at 313. The meteorological department forecasts fog from tomorrow.

The IMD weather report for December 9 states light haze with a maximum temperature of 24°C and a minimum of 9°C. Morning wind speeds are expected to be between 15 and 25 km/h. On December 10, shallow fog is likely with temperatures ranging from 8°C minimum to 24°C maximum.

Dense fog is predicted on December 11, with temperatures between 7°C and 24°C. The IMD warns that fog will increase in the mornings from tomorrow, potentially reducing visibility. There is also concern that pollution levels may rise again once the winds weaken.
