Digvijay Singh Responds to High Court Ruling on Bhojshala Complex

Indore, May 16: Congress leader Digvijay Singh has reacted to the recent High Court ruling regarding the Bhojshala complex in Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar district. He stated that the matter will be thoroughly examined, noting that several similar cases are already pending in the Supreme Court.

Singh highlighted that cases related to the Gyanvapi mosque in Varanasi, the Sambhal mosque, and the Mathura-Vrindavan dispute are currently before the Supreme Court, with stays in place. He emphasized the need to study the implications of the Bhojshala ruling.

He pointed out that Bhojshala is a monument protected by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). Singh raised concerns, stating that the ASI report does not mention any idols, which he believes is troubling.

The Congress leader remarked, “In a time of economic and social tension in the country, it is inappropriate to reignite Hindu-Muslim disputes.”

Recently, the Indore bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court declared the Bhojshala complex as a temple, prompting a wave of political reactions.

In response to the High Court’s decision, the Hindu side has swiftly initiated legal preparations. On Friday, Jitendra Singh Vishen, representing the Hindu side, filed a caveat petition in the Supreme Court through his lawyer, Advocate Barun Kumar Sinha. This petition requests that the Supreme Court refrain from issuing any unilateral orders regarding potential appeals against the High Court’s ruling without hearing the Hindu side.

Meanwhile, the Muslim side has also indicated plans to challenge the High Court’s decision in the Supreme Court. Dhar’s city Qazi, Waqas Sadiq, stated they would thoroughly study the ASI report before proceeding to the Supreme Court.
