Tamil Nadu Government Transfers IAS Officers Across Key Departments

Chennai, May 15: The Tamil Nadu government has executed a significant transfer of IAS officers across various departments, including agriculture, information technology, disaster management, and revenue administration. According to orders issued by Chief Secretary M. Sai Kumar, IAS B. Murugesh, the Director of Agriculture, has been reassigned as the Secretary of the State Human Rights Commission. Dr. K.V. Muraleedharan, IAS, the Director of Fisheries and Managing Director of the Tamil Nadu Fisheries Development Corporation, will take over as the new Director of Agriculture.

C. Muthukumar, IAS, the Director of the Tamil Nadu State Disaster Risk Reduction Agency, has been appointed as the District Collector for Karur, succeeding G. Ravikumar, IAS.

F. Abdul Razeek, the Deputy Collector (Training) of Tiruvallur, has been appointed as the Deputy Collector for Ponnaiyur in Tiruvallur district after completing his executive training. Similarly, V. Nallasivam, the Deputy Collector (Training) from Chengalpattu, will serve as the Deputy Collector for Sriperumbudur in Kanchipuram district.

The government has also created temporary IAS cadre positions for a duration of one year or until the need ceases. These include the Additional Chief Secretary in the Information Technology and Digital Services Department at the Chief Secretary level, the Principal Secretary in the Handlooms, Handicrafts, Textiles, and Khadi Department at the Principal Secretary level, and the Commissioner of Revenue Administration and Disaster Management at the Senior Scale level.

Following the creation of these new positions, Pradeep Yadav, the former secretary to the Deputy Chief Minister, has been appointed as the Additional Chief Secretary in the Information Technology and Digital Services Department, replacing Brajendra Navneet, who has been deputed to the Government of India.

T.N. Venkatesh, the Principal Secretary and Vice Chairman and CEO of the Tamil Nadu Maritime Board, has been transferred to the Handlooms, Handicrafts, Textiles, and Khadi Department as Principal Secretary, taking over from V. Amuthavalli.

Dr. P. Shankar, previously the Secretary of the Higher Education Department, has been appointed as the Commissioner of Agriculture Production and Secretary of the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department, succeeding V. Dhanamurthy.

G. Latha, the Commissioner of the Entrepreneurship Development and Innovation Institute, has been transferred to become the Registrar of Cooperatives. B. Gayathri Krishnan will assume the role of Director (Social Security Schemes) in the Revenue Administration and Disaster Management Commissioner’s office upon her return from leave.

Deepak Jacob’s services as the Director of Survey and Settlement have been made available for appointment as Managing Director and CEO of Guidance, succeeding Dr. Dareez Ahmed, IAS.

The government has announced that the newly created positions will be assigned status and responsibilities equivalent to existing cadre positions under the IAS (Pay) Rules, 2016.
