
Patna, May 16: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary has appointed key officials for the functioning of the Bihar Assembly. Sanjeev Chaurasia, the BJP MLA from Digha, has been designated as the Chief Whip of the ruling party in the Assembly, succeeding Vinod Narayan Jha. Manjit Kumar Singh, a close associate of Nitish Kumar and MLA from Barouli, has been appointed as the Deputy Chief Whip.
Other appointed whips include Gayatri Devi from Parihar, Raju Tiwari from Govindganj, Ramvilas Kamat from Pipra, Sudhanshu Shekhar from Harlaakhi, Rana Randhir from Madhuban, Vinay Kumar Chaudhary from Benipur, Krishna Kumar Rishi from Banmankhi, Arun Manjhi from Masaurhi, and Ratnesh Kumar from Patna Sahib. Notably, Ramvilas Kamat and Vinay Kumar Chaudhary from JDU have been appointed as whips for the first time.
Sanjeev Chaurasia, a prominent BJP leader from the backward class, expressed gratitude to top leaders upon his appointment. He took to X to thank National President Nitin Naveen, Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, State President Sanjay Sarawagi, and the central leadership. He also congratulated the newly appointed Deputy Chief Whip and whips.
These appointments are made considering the upcoming legislative activities and the strategy of the House. The position of whip is considered the backbone of a democratic system, ensuring that party members adhere to official directives within the House. These new roles will aid the government in presenting its agenda more effectively and responding to opposition challenges in an organized manner. The Chief Whip holds a cabinet rank, while the Deputy Chief Whip and whips are accorded the status of state ministers.
