PM Modi Concludes Successful UAE Visit, Heads to Netherlands for Next Leg

Abu Dhabi, May 15: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) concluded with a warm farewell from President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The two leaders embraced each other before Modi boarded his flight.

Prime Minister Modi described the trip as a “short but highly positive journey,” emphasizing that its outcomes would strengthen the friendship between the two nations and contribute to mutual development and prosperity.

On the social media platform X, he wrote, “I have completed a short but very positive visit to the UAE. I had detailed discussions with my brother Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on ways to deepen the India-UAE comprehensive strategic partnership. I am confident that the results of this visit will strengthen our friendship and contribute to development and prosperity.”

Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that the visit yielded significant results, further enhancing the India-UAE comprehensive strategic partnership.

He noted on X, “Limited time, but important outcomes. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit has resulted in several key achievements, deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership between India and the UAE. The warmth of the relationship between the two countries was evident as President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan bid farewell to the Prime Minister at the airport. Modi is now en route to the Netherlands, the next stop on his five-nation tour.”

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi held a meeting with President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi. They discussed strengthening bilateral relations, particularly in areas such as energy, trade and investment, blue economy, technology (including fintech), defense, and enhancing people-to-people connections.

The leaders also addressed the situation in West Asia and other global issues.

In their extensive discussions, Modi reiterated India’s strong condemnation of attacks on the UAE and expressed solidarity with its leadership and people. He made it clear that India seeks to ensure safe and uninterrupted passage through the Strait of Hormuz, which is crucial for regional peace, stability, energy, and food security.

The MEA statement highlighted, “Both leaders discussed the entire spectrum of India-UAE relations and welcomed the growing comprehensive strategic partnership across various sectors, including energy, trade, investment, defense, security, fintech, infrastructure, education, culture, and people-to-people ties. They also praised the success of the India-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which has elevated trade between the two countries to new heights.”
