Gandhinagar, May 15: The Gujarat State Yoga Board is set to organize approximately 225 summer yoga camps across the state’s cities, talukas, and villages for children aged 7 to 15. These camps will take place from May 16 to May 30. This statewide initiative aims to promote a healthy lifestyle among children and reduce excessive screen time during the summer vacation.
The ‘Summer Yoga Camp-2026’ is being organized in celebration of International Yoga Day. Its goal is to introduce children to yoga and health practices at an early age.
This program comes in response to growing concerns about the increased use of mobile phones, decreased physical activity, mental stress, and irregular lifestyles among children.
According to the board, these camps aim to instill healthy habits, good values, discipline, self-confidence, concentration, and positive thinking in children from a young age.
The initiative seeks to ensure that summer vacations serve not only as a time for fun but also as an excellent opportunity for children’s physical, mental, and cultural development.
Participants will receive training in yoga postures, pranayama, meditation, micro-exercises, and engaging yoga activities.
Sessions during the camps will also focus on physical fitness, mental concentration, health awareness, Indian culture, and life values.
Organizers have stated that special activities will be conducted to help develop teamwork, leadership skills, positivity, and a disciplined lifestyle among children.
The camps aim to encourage children to spend time away from mobile phones and television screens, connecting instead with yoga, health, and nature.
The board emphasized that yoga could serve as an effective and natural solution to the rising health issues faced by children in the digital age.
