New Delhi, May 23: Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced on Saturday that the Delhi government is actively working on a comprehensive 360-degree approach to tackle pollution and improve the environment. Whether addressing air pollution or increasing tree plantation, the government is making every possible effort to enhance Delhi’s environmental conditions.
During a media interaction, CM Rekha Gupta emphasized that pollution is not just a challenge for a couple of months; it is an ongoing issue that requires year-round commitment. She stated that the government is dedicated to improving Delhi’s environment and is seriously addressing pollution through various new initiatives.
The Chief Minister recalled a significant exhibition organized by the Environment Ministry, where startups showcased innovative ideas aimed at enhancing the environment and reducing pollution. The projects were evaluated in collaboration with IIT Delhi, and the best initiatives have been selected for implementation in the city.
She also highlighted the rapid progress of the grand Chhath Ghat construction and beautification along the Munak Canal. Gupta conducted an on-ground review of the ongoing works and instructed officials to ensure that all tasks are completed with high quality and within the stipulated timelines. She noted that there was a time when devotees faced hardships during the Chhath festival due to a lack of basic facilities. Today, that same location is set to become a symbol of respect for faith, equipped with new arrangements, cleanliness, lighting, and modern amenities.
Additionally, she inaugurated various development projects in the A Block of Shalimar Bagh Assembly and the AP Block of Pitampura. Gupta mentioned that a new framework for civic amenities is being established in Shalimar Bagh. Modern roads, improved drainage systems, clean drains, organized parking, walkways, public toilets, and beautiful parks are all being developed with the needs of local residents and future requirements in mind. A large number of local residents, including municipal councilor Anita Jain, were present at the event.
