Patna, May 23: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary has made a significant announcement aimed at facilitating millions of students participating in the NEET examination. He declared that all NEET candidates in the state will be able to travel for free on government buses.
In a post on the social media platform X, Chief Minister Chaudhary stated that travel on all state government buses will be completely free for candidates attending the exam. He wrote, “To assist all candidates appearing for the NEET examination, travel on all Bihar state government buses will be free. Additionally, I request district administrations, all monasteries and temples in the state, and non-governmental organizations to help provide drinking water, sattu, and other refreshments for candidates and their parents at bus stands, railway stations, and other key locations.”
He also extended heartfelt wishes to all candidates preparing for the exam. This announcement comes at a crucial time as preparations for the NEET UG examination are in full swing across the country. A large number of students from Bihar participate in this exam, traveling from distant districts to centers in Patna, Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur, and Gaya. Transportation costs have been a significant concern for these students, and the Chief Minister’s announcement is expected to provide considerable relief to both parents and students.
The Chief Minister’s initiative goes beyond just free bus travel; it sends a clear message to the entire administration to ensure the convenience of candidates. He has instructed district administrations to arrange for nutritious beverages such as drinking water, sattu, and buttermilk at bus stands and railway stations. He has also appealed for cooperation from the state’s renowned monasteries, temples, and NGOs.
According to government sources, detailed guidelines have already been issued to all district magistrates regarding this initiative. The transport department has also instructed all government bus depots to be prepared. Additional buses may be operated on exam days.
It is noteworthy that following a paper leak incident, the NTA announced the cancellation of the exam. Subsequently, the NTA has released a new exam date, with the NEET scheduled to take place again on June 21.
