Mumbai, May 23: Priyanka Chaturvedi, spokesperson for Shiv Sena (UBT) and former MP, has emphasized that fulfilling promises made to the people of West Bengal should be the government’s top priority.
Chaturvedi criticized the BJP for failing to deliver on its commitments regarding infiltrators in Bengal. She pointed out that the cabinet is still not fully formed, making it easy to use terms like ‘infiltrators’ without taking real action or accountability.
Additionally, she raised questions about the cancellation of over 31,000 Waqf property registrations on the Uttar Pradesh Ummeed portal. Chaturvedi demanded clarity on the basis and reasons for these cancellations, stressing that the public deserves transparency. She recalled that her party had previously called for the Waqf Amendment Bill to be sent to a select committee for detailed discussions involving all stakeholders.
Chaturvedi expressed her hope that the government would provide transparency regarding the reasons behind the cancellation of these Waqf properties. She noted that, according to her information, a certification process was necessary for these cases.
Moreover, she responded to allegations made by BJP Rajya Sabha MP Harbhajan Singh, who accused the Aam Aadmi Party of ‘selling’ Rajya Sabha tickets. Chaturvedi remarked that Singh, a well-known cricketer, seems to be justifying his political shift by making such accusations.
She suggested that Singh might be under pressure from the BJP to make these claims. If there is indeed evidence of seat buying and selling, it is Singh’s responsibility to disclose what he knows.
Chaturvedi also stated that drawing conclusions based solely on social media disputes about the Aam Aadmi Party’s actions is inappropriate. Serious political allegations should be based on facts and evidence, not just social media discussions.
Commenting on the rise of the so-called ‘Cockroach Public Party,’ she noted that the BJP has realized that the new generation, Gen Z, is increasingly disillusioned with the party.
She alleged that issues like NEET paper leaks, alleged irregularities in CBSE, and new UGC guidelines have deeply affected the youth. The ongoing problem of unemployment continues to rise, leaving many young people without jobs. Chaturvedi expressed concern over the government’s neglect of the youth’s future, which has led to widespread anger across the country.
She highlighted that when the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court referred to unemployed youth as ‘cockroaches,’ it was natural for the youth to feel enraged. Chaturvedi insisted that the government must take the youth’s concerns seriously and work diligently to resolve their issues.
