Washington, 12 December. The White House has strongly criticised a recent video by New York City’s new Mayor, Zohran Mamdani, in which immigrants were allegedly encouraged to ‘stand against ICE’. The White House warned that such messages are leading to an increase in harassment and violence against federal immigration officers.

White House Press Secretary Carolyn LeVitt expressed serious concern over the rise in violence, attacks, and physical threats against agents during the Trump administration. She described the increase as alarming. LeVitt said, “We have seen more than a thousand percent rise in violent attacks on them and their families.”

LeVitt added that ICE officers’ personal information has been exposed, leading to harassment and physical assaults on many. She emphasised that these officers are simply enforcing the nation’s immigration laws.

When asked if New York’s message might encourage residents to oppose enforcement operations, she responded, “The administration condemns this and will continue its mission across all states to remove illegal foreigners and threats to public safety from American communities.”

The Press Secretary’s remarks came as President Trump declared current border conditions as the safest in US history, citing record low encounter numbers. According to LeVitt, US Border Patrol recorded zero illegal crossings into the United States for the seventh consecutive month.

Comparing with the previous administration, she said, “In President Trump’s ten months, we have seen overall less fear compared to one month of Joe Biden’s term.”

These statements by the administration have impacted parts of the country but have also heightened tensions in major cities like New York, where many immigrants, including thousands of Indian citizens, live and work.

LeVitt stated that President Trump has restored sovereignty at the border and achieved the largest and fastest national security victory in modern American history. She described the steady decline in illegal crossings as remarkable results.
