
New Delhi, May 22: Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides has arrived in India for a four-day visit, landing in New Delhi on Thursday. His itinerary includes participation in events in Mumbai before heading to the capital.
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs welcomed President Christodoulides warmly on social media platform X, stating, “We extend a warm welcome to President Nikos Christodoulides of the Republic of Cyprus upon his arrival in New Delhi after his visit to Mumbai. He received a formal welcome and a guard of honor from Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, Ajay Tamta.”
According to the Ministry, this visit builds on the momentum created by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s historic trip to Cyprus in June 2025, showcasing a shared commitment to strengthen the India-Cyprus partnership.
Upon arriving in New Delhi, Christodoulides expressed his happiness and honor on X, stating, “I am very pleased and honored to be in New Delhi for the second part of my state visit to India. Together, we have paved a path with a strategic vision for a growing partnership that works for both Cyprus and India, encompassing security, defense, technology, innovation, maritime cooperation, and economic engagement, while enhancing collaboration and connectivity with Europe and the Middle East.”
He also mentioned looking forward to his meeting with Prime Minister Modi on Friday. Earlier on Thursday, Christodoulides inaugurated the trading session at NSE India in Mumbai alongside NSE Chairman Srinivas Injeti and MD & CEO Ashish Kumar Chauhan.
ASE India noted on X, “This visit included a tour of the NSE premises, followed by engaging discussions with our leadership team to strengthen bilateral relations and explore deeper cooperation.”
Additionally, Christodoulides is scheduled to meet with India’s President Droupadi Murmu, who will host an official dinner in his honor. Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar will meet with President Christodoulides on Friday morning before his meeting with Prime Minister Modi at Hyderabad House.
Christodoulides emphasized the importance of his visit to India, stating it will play a crucial role in further strengthening the already excellent relations between the two countries.
