Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association Announces New Officials After Supreme Court Ruling

New Delhi, May 22: The Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) has announced its newly elected officials following the Supreme Court’s removal of the interim stay on the election results. This decision clears the way for the formal conclusion of the electoral process.

The development occurred after the petitioners in the civil writ petition number 17/2026, ‘Youth Cricket Club and Others vs. JKCA and Others’, withdrew their plea, which alleged fraud and manipulation of the voter list.

JKCA’s legal counsel raised initial objections regarding the petition’s admissibility, leading to the lifting of the interim order dated January 8, 2026, which had allowed the electoral process but halted the announcement of results.

Subsequently, election officer A.K. Jyoti, IAS (Retd.), declared the results of the JKCA elections. The newly elected officials are: Javed Ahmad Qitab (President), Desh Ratan Dubey (Vice President), Vivek Khajuria (Secretary), Rajan Singh (Treasurer), and Apex Council members Anil Kumar Kaul and Rakesh Kaul.

Under Rule 22 of the JKCA Constitution, future nominations have been confirmed. Senior Deputy Auditor (AMG 1/Administration) Ankush Kumar has been appointed by the AG office to the Apex Council, while Ankita Jalla and Vikrant Taggar have also been nominated as state representatives in the Apex Council for the Indian Cricketers Association (ICA).

The JKCA expressed gratitude to the Supreme Court, the election officer, and all stakeholders for ensuring a fair and transparent process that has established an elected body after nine years.

In a statement, the JKCA said, “We thank the Honorable Supreme Court, the election officer, the association members, and all stakeholders for ensuring that the electoral process was conducted fairly, transparently, and democratically. The association now looks forward to collectively advancing the broader interests of cricket in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The outgoing sub-committee members congratulated the newly elected officials and wished them success in their future endeavors.”
