Noida, May 22: The police in Noida have apprehended a wanted suspect accused of inciting violence and spreading misinformation during a recent labor protest. Authorities recovered a mobile phone used in the incident from the suspect.
The arrested individual has been identified as Anil Kumar, a resident of Mukteshra village in the Babu Garh Cantonment area of Hapur district, who was reportedly living in a rented accommodation in Noida’s Naya Gaon.
According to police reports, Anil Kumar was arrested on May 20 based on confidential information near the Hanuman Temple behind the Madarsan Company. He was allegedly active in a social media group related to the labor movement, where inflammatory posts and videos were being circulated.
Investigations revealed that some individuals were falsely claiming on social media that Anil was a driver for a UP police officer or DCP, suggesting he was intentionally placed in the protest to incite violence. However, police have dismissed these allegations as baseless.
Officials clarified that Anil has never served as a driver for any police officer; instead, he works as a private driver for an individual in Delhi. They also stated that he currently has no ties to Richa Global Company, where he was employed two years ago.
Further investigation uncovered that Anil was added to the WhatsApp group by another individual connected to the labor protest, not by the Gautam Buddh Nagar police.
The police noted that messages encouraging disruption, such as “Modi is coming, we should block the entire road for the inauguration of the bypass,” were posted in the group, which they view as attempts to incite violence and chaos. Authorities have gathered significant leads in this case, which will aid in ongoing investigations.
Anil Kumar’s educational background is reported to be up to the fifth grade. Police records indicate he has previously faced charges under the Arms Act at the Hapur Nagar police station. In the current case, he has been charged under various sections of the BNSS.
The police have seized a Realme mobile phone from the suspect, which will be examined to gather information regarding social media activities and potential accomplices. Law enforcement has stated that strict action will continue against those attempting to disrupt public order under the guise of the labor movement.
