Lucknow, May 22: In response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s appeal for fuel conservation, Finance Minister Suresh Khanna walked home from his office on Thursday. During his interaction with the media, he emphasized that this initiative is not merely personal but conveys a significant message about energy savings and the proper use of fuel in the country.
Khanna highlighted that both the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister have consistently urged the nation to reduce reliance on fuels like petrol and diesel. This reduction will directly benefit the country’s foreign exchange reserves and alleviate economic pressures on India amid current international circumstances. He stressed the importance of using energy resources wisely in today’s global scenario.
He also mentioned that the Prime Minister has been advocating for resolving international issues through dialogue. However, there are times when immediate solutions are not feasible. In such situations, it becomes the responsibility of all citizens to support government policies and participate in initiatives like fuel conservation.
Reflecting on his personal efforts, Khanna shared that he cycled to the assembly last week and returned the same way. This time, he rode a motorcycle to the assembly but walked back. He believes that small efforts can lead to significant changes. If every citizen makes an effort to conserve fuel, it could lead to a substantial reduction in oil consumption across the country.
He urged people to adopt similar habits, such as walking short distances, using bicycles, or avoiding unnecessary vehicle use. This would not only save fuel but also positively impact the environment.
Khanna concluded by stating that with rising petrol and diesel prices, this issue is not just an economic burden but a national challenge. It is the duty of every citizen to understand the country’s needs and contribute accordingly.
