
New Delhi, May 22: An Air India flight, AI2802, traveling from Bengaluru to Delhi, experienced a technical warning related to its engine during landing. The airline confirmed that the cockpit crew received a fire indication from one of the engines at the time of landing.
According to Air India, the crew followed standard operating procedures and safely landed the aircraft at Delhi Airport. Fortunately, no passengers or crew members were harmed, and everyone is safe.
In a statement, Air India said, “We are aware of the incident involving flight AI2802 from Bengaluru to Delhi on May 21. The cockpit crew received a fire indication in the engine during landing, which was later found to be incorrect. The aircraft was safely landed, ensuring the safety of all passengers and crew.”
The airline further confirmed that all passengers and crew members disembarked safely from the aircraft.
Air India announced that it has initiated a detailed investigation into the incident and is collaborating with relevant regulatory agencies. The company stated that it will share new findings as they emerge.
The airline reiterated that the safety of passengers and crew is its top priority, and every incident is taken seriously. Currently, a technical inspection of the aircraft is underway to determine the cause of the engine alert.
Previously, another Air India flight faced a tail strike incident while landing at Bengaluru International Airport. Flight AI2651 had 179 passengers and crew members on board. Air India reported that the aircraft landed safely and all passengers and crew disembarked normally.
Following the incident, the affected aircraft has been grounded for a thorough technical inspection. Air India stated that the investigation will be conducted under established procedures, leading to the cancellation of the return flight AI2652 from Bengaluru to Delhi. The airline is making alternative arrangements for the affected passengers.
