Mumbai, 9 December. In today’s busy life, everyone desires a healthy and fit body, but it often becomes difficult to achieve due to hectic schedules. Trikonasana is a yoga pose that can be done in a short time and offers multiple health benefits.
Regular practice of Trikonasana improves muscle flexibility and enhances blood circulation. Daily stretching to the right and left activates muscles in the back, arms, and legs, promoting overall physical activity.
According to the Ministry of AYUSH, Trikonasana helps make the body flexible, balanced, and strong. It also improves digestion and strengthens muscles in the waist and thighs.
To perform this pose, stand on a yoga mat with your feet spread 3 to 4 feet apart. Turn your right foot outward at a 90-degree angle and slightly turn your left foot inward. Stretch your arms straight at shoulder height with palms facing down. Slowly bend to the right side and try to touch your right foot or ankle with your right hand. Keep your left arm straight and raised upwards. Hold this position for 20 to 30 seconds while maintaining normal breathing. Then slowly return to the standing position. Repeat the same on the left side.
During this pose, the hands, feet, and spine form a triangle, which helps reduce stress. However, caution is advised for people with conditions like slip disc or sciatica.
Trikonasana is known to help control weight and reduce stress and anxiety. It also improves balance and concentration.
Regular practice of Trikonasana increases the body’s energy. Still, it is recommended to follow safety measures while performing this exercise.
