Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Assigns Key Departments to CMO Officials

Chennai, May 18: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay has assigned several crucial government departments to senior officials in the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO). This move aims to enhance administrative efficiency and ensure better coordination among various departments.

According to an order issued by the CMO, senior bureaucrats have been assigned groups of departments to strengthen the monitoring of government plans and policies.

P. Senthilkumar, the Chief Secretary and Secretary-1, has been entrusted with some of the state’s most significant departments. He will now oversee finance, home, urban administration and water supply, industries, highways, health, energy, and public works.

Additionally, the Vigilance Commission will also fall under his jurisdiction. This indicates that Chief Minister Vijay is focusing on law and order, financial management, infrastructure, and essential services during the early phase of his government.

G. Lakshmi Priya, the Chief Minister’s Secretary-2, has been assigned departments related to social development and welfare. She will oversee school education, higher education, revenue, rural development, housing, social welfare, and women’s empowerment. Furthermore, she will manage appointments, protocols, and administrative tasks within the Chief Minister’s Office.

Secretary-3 A. Annadurai has been given important ministries such as water resources, agriculture, transport, cooperation, and law. These departments are directly linked to farmers, resource management, and legal administration.

Meanwhile, Additional Secretary V. Vishnu has been assigned departments related to future and development. His responsibilities include information technology and digital services, MSMEs, tourism, skill development, youth welfare, and sports development.

Political and administrative experts believe this significant reshuffle is part of Vijay’s strategy to establish better coordination between the Chief Minister’s Office and various government departments. It is expected to make governance more transparent, efficient, and results-oriented.
