New Delhi, May 18: The Special Cell of Delhi Police has apprehended a shooter associated with the notorious Jora Gang. He was wanted in connection with a shooting incident aimed at extorting money from a medical store in Jhajjar district, Haryana.
The suspect has been identified as 22-year-old Chirag, also known as Sachin, a resident of Kharkhoda in Sonipat district, Haryana. He was arrested by a joint team from the Special Cell’s Northern Range and the STF.
During an operation conducted in the Rohini area of Delhi, police recovered a modern semi-automatic pistol and four live cartridges from his possession.
Authorities revealed that Chirag was actively working as a shooter for gangster Naveen Dubas, alias Jora, who is reportedly operating his gang from Dubai.
DCP Narra Chaitanya of the Special Cell stated that on May 5, Chirag, along with his associates Mohit, also known as Chand, and Jatin, fired shots at a medical store in Jhajjar to intimidate the shop owner into paying extortion money.
Following the shooting, gangster Naveen Dubas allegedly threatened the medical store owner over the phone.
In response to this incident, Haryana Police registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Arms Act at the city police station in Jhajjar.
During the investigation, the Special Cell received a tip-off on May 12 that a shooter from the Jora Gang was heading to the Rohini area with illegal firearms.
Based on this information, ACP Rahul Kumar Singh supervised a team led by Inspectors Mandeep and Jaybeer, who set up a trap and successfully captured Chirag.
According to police reports, Chirag completed his education up to the 10th grade and worked at a general store in Kharkhoda between 2020 and 2022. It was during this time that he connected with Naveen Dubas through the social media app via Mohit, also known as Chand.
The investigation further revealed that when Mohit and Jatin were arrested by Haryana Police for the extortion shooting, Chirag managed to flee but remained in contact with the gangster.
Police indicated that Jora had instructed him to wait in Delhi for further directions, but before that could happen, the Special Cell apprehended him.
