
Lucknow, May 15: Uttar Pradesh’s Deputy Chief Minister, Brajesh Pathak, has announced a commitment to making the state cancer-free. He emphasized that a healthy population is the foundation for a strong and developed nation. “Together, we will defeat cancer and other diseases,” he stated, highlighting the health department’s crucial role in fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a developed India.
During a presentation meeting at the assembly, Deputy CM Pathak addressed initiatives to strengthen the Uttar Pradesh State Cancer Mission, the Uttar Pradesh Surgical Services Empowerment Mission, and the Uttar Pradesh Trauma and Emergency Network. He noted that extensive efforts are underway to eliminate cancer in the state, including plans to establish cancer hospitals with 100 beds in all 75 districts. The government is also launching campaigns for early disease detection.
Experts presented a roadmap for the upcoming years, which sparked in-depth discussions. Pathak stressed the need for collective action to achieve a cancer-free Uttar Pradesh. A detailed report on the Surgical Services Empowerment Mission was also shared, covering aspects from manpower to expenses. He highlighted the significance of surgical services in the medical field, asserting that this initiative will greatly benefit patients.
Furthermore, the Deputy CM discussed strengthening the Uttar Pradesh Trauma Emergency Network. A comprehensive plan was presented on how to enhance the network’s effectiveness. Pathak indicated that another meeting would be convened soon to address pending points from the presentations, ensuring swift implementation of the discussed initiatives. The meeting included Minister of State Mayankeshwar Sharan Singh, Additional Chief Secretary (Medical & Health) Amit Kumar Ghosh, senior health officials, and medical professionals.
Pathak also addressed private hospitals that do not meet trauma standards but display trauma center signs outside their facilities. He instructed that notices be issued through municipal corporations to remove these boards. Additionally, he called for similar actions regarding boards near government hospitals, aimed at addressing patients and their attendants. The Deputy CM provided necessary directives concerning government ambulance services, 108 and 102.
