RoboFest Gujarat 5.0 Concludes with Participation from Over 10,000 Students

Ahmedabad, March 23: The RoboFest Gujarat 5.0, organized by the Gujarat Council of Science and Technology under the state’s Science and Technology Department, concluded on Monday. This national-level competition saw participation from a total of 2,096 teams and 10,480 students across the country.

Gujarat’s Forest and Environment Minister, Arjun Modhwadia, stated that Gujarat has emerged as a leader in science and technology, crediting Prime Minister Modi for this achievement. Modi initiated the Gujarat Science and Technology Department in 2003, and the current Chief Minister, Bhupendra Patel, is promoting a scientific temperament among the public.

He expressed joy at how children, who once played with toys, are now creating robots. He emphasized that if this trend continues, Gujarat and the nation will lead in the robotics sector in the coming days. Numerous models were showcased, with participation from industry, academia, students, and researchers. These students are expected to present new robotic products to the world soon.

Awards were given to approximately 1,038 students across seven categories. The event featured a prize pool of five crore rupees. Successful ideas received 50,000 rupees, while the grand finale winners were awarded 10 lakh for first place, 7.5 lakh for second, and 5 lakh for third. About 60% of participants were from Gujarat’s schools and colleges, including NITs, IITs, IISERs, and state universities.

Student Narottam Sahu expressed gratitude for attending RoboFest Gujarat 5.0, where his team won first prize in the application-based category with their agricultural robot. Currently pursuing a B.Tech, he thanked the university for their support, stating that their nine months of hard work have paid off.
