Indore, May 16: Worship has commenced at the Bhojshala complex in Madhya Pradesh after it was declared a temple. The Madhya Pradesh High Court issued its ruling on the Bhojshala-Kamal Maula dispute on Friday, recognizing the Bhojshala complex as a temple dedicated to Goddess Saraswati (Vagdevi). This decision has sparked joy among Hindus in Indore.
Devotees are flocking to the Bhojshala complex to participate in the rituals. On Saturday morning, officials from the Bhoj Utsav Committee and numerous devotees gathered at the site for a ceremonial worship, which included the recitation of the Hanuman Chalisa. This marks the first worship session at Bhojshala following the High Court’s decision.
In response to the situation, police have implemented stringent security measures, deploying a significant number of officers to manage any potential issues.
The Indore bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court declared Bhojshala a temple and granted the Hindu community the right to worship there. The court issued this order in response to petitions seeking to restore the Bhojshala complex to Hindus and prevent Muslims from praying on its premises.
On Friday, Justices Vijay Kumar Shukla and Alok Awasthi annulled a previous order that allowed Muslims to pray at the Bhojshala complex.
The court stated, “The disputed area of Bhojshala complex and Kamal Maula Mosque is considered a protected monument. The religious character of the disputed area is that of Bhojshala, which houses the temple of Goddess Saraswati.”
The court found historical evidence indicating that this site was dedicated to Goddess Saraswati and served as a center for learning Sanskrit.
