NIA Files Charges Against Five in Human Trafficking Case Linked to Cambodia

New Delhi, May 16: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has made a significant breakthrough in a human trafficking and cyber slavery case linked to Cambodia, filing charges against five individuals. The mastermind behind the operation, Anand Kumar Singh, also known as Munna Singh, remains at large.

The charges were submitted to a special court in Patna on Friday. The accused face various charges under multiple sections of the law.

Among the five named in the charges are the fugitive Anand Kumar Singh, Abhay Nath Dubey, Abhiranjan Kumar, Rohit Yadav, and Prahlad Kumar Singh. Abhay and Rohit are residents of Uttar Pradesh, while Abhiranjan hails from Bihar. The trio was arrested in February 2026 while returning to Delhi from Cambodia. Prahlad Kumar Singh is currently out on bail.

According to the investigation agency, this case is linked to an organized human trafficking ring. The accused lured Indian youths with promises of lucrative jobs abroad, sending them to Cambodia. Upon arrival, the victims had their passports confiscated and were forced to work in fake cyber companies.

The NIA’s investigation revealed that those who resisted faced mental and physical abuse. Victims were subjected to electric shocks, confined in rooms, and denied food and water.

The investigation also uncovered that Anand Kumar Singh recruited youths through travel agents and sub-agents in India. He then illegally sent them to Cambodia with the help of associates there.

The NIA reported that Anand Kumar Singh charged between $2,000 to $3,000 for each youth sold to a fake company. The agency is now searching for additional members of this trafficking ring and continues to investigate the entire network.
