Celebrating 51 Years of Sikkims Merger with India: Leaders Wish for Continued Development

New Delhi, May 16: Today marks the 51st anniversary of Sikkim’s integration into India as its 22nd state. On this special occasion, Union Minister Amit Shah, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and various Chief Ministers from BJP-ruled states extended their best wishes to the people of Sikkim. They emphasized that Sikkim’s development, culture, and natural beauty have carved a unique identity for the state within the country. They also expressed hopes for Sikkim to reach new heights of progress in the future.

On the occasion of Sikkim’s Foundation Day, President Droupadi Murmu shared her greetings on social media, stating, “On the state foundation day, I extend heartfelt wishes to the people of Sikkim. With its stunning natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and strong commitment to environmental conservation, Sikkim stands as a model for sustainable development in the country. The people of Sikkim are known for their warmth, simplicity, and spirit of harmony. I hope this state and its people continue to prosper.”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah posted on social media, “Warm wishes to the brothers and sisters of Sikkim on the occasion of the state foundation day. From becoming the world’s first fully organic state to redefining mountain tourism, Sikkim’s achievements inspire all of India. May the saga of Sikkim’s glory reach new heights.”

Central Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also took to social media, saying, “Heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to all Sikkim residents on the state foundation day, adorned with unparalleled natural beauty and rich folk cultures and traditions! Under the able leadership of Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, may Sikkim continue on the path of development and progress, opening new doors of prosperity for its citizens.”

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath shared his wishes on social media, stating, “On the foundation day of Sikkim, adorned with natural splendor and a rich cultural heritage, I extend heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the people of Sikkim. Under the guidance of PM Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, may Sikkim set new benchmarks for inclusive development and public welfare.”

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma expressed his congratulations on social media, saying, “Warm wishes and congratulations to all residents on the foundation day of Sikkim, blessed with natural beauty, rich culture, and spiritual heritage! Under the capable leadership of Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, may this beautiful state continue to progress, prosper, and thrive.”

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav posted on social media, “Heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to all Sikkim residents on the foundation day of this land of natural beauty, rich folk culture, and hard work. Delhi government minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa also shared his wishes on social media, stating, “Warm congratulations and best wishes to the people of Sikkim on the foundation day of this state, adorned with natural beauty, rich culture, and peaceful traditions. Nestled in the lap of the Himalayas, Sikkim is recognized nationwide for its extraordinary natural beauty, clean environment, spiritual heritage, and cultural diversity.
