Mumbai, May 16: Veteran actress Helen is renowned for her exceptional dance, unique style, and powerful screen presence. Her songs remain immensely popular even today. In an upcoming episode of the reality show “Indian Idol,” her illustrious journey will be celebrated in a special way. Alongside Helen, actor-singer Ayushmann Khurrana will also make an appearance.
During the show, Ayushmann expressed his admiration for Helen, stating, “I had no idea I would be on this episode. As soon as I saw Helen, I became quite emotional. I have been a huge fan of hers since childhood. She set a new trend in Bollywood.”
The actor noted, “At a time when cabaret dance was merely seen as entertainment, Helen elevated it to an art form. The songs that people now refer to as item songs were given a new height through her artistry and expressions.”
Ayushmann also mentioned singer Asha Bhosle, saying, “The beautiful songs Asha Bhosle sang for her were presented on screen with the same beauty and energy by Helen. Their pairing has been one of the most memorable in Hindi cinema.”
He added that Helen’s performance style was truly remarkable, and her songs continue to be loved by audiences today.
During the conversation, Ayushmann shared a personal anecdote, revealing, “My mother is from Burma, and so is Helen. That’s why we always speak of her with great pride at home. I have heard about Helen from my mother since childhood, and standing in front of her today is a very special moment for me.”
He further mentioned, “My mother taught me a short poem in Burmese when I was a child. I always thought that if I ever got the chance to meet Helen, I would recite that poem to her.”
In response to the love she received, Helen thanked everyone, particularly remembering Asha Bhosle. She said, “I want to sincerely thank Asha Ji, as her voice has always made my songs special. Without Asha Bhosle’s voice, my songs wouldn’t have been as memorable.”
