Violence Erupts During Celebration in Bihar, One Killed and Several Injured

Patna, May 16: A tragic incident unfolded late Friday night in the Rahui police station area of Nalanda district, Bihar. A dispute between two groups escalated into a violent clash, resulting in the brutal beating death of a young man. Approximately eight others sustained injuries during the altercation.

Police have detained 11 individuals for questioning regarding the incident, which occurred in the village of Punha. Reports indicate that a housewarming ceremony was taking place, with attendees from both groups present for the feast. Tensions rose when a light-hearted joke between two individuals turned personal, leading to a heated argument that quickly spiraled into violence. Both sides resorted to using sticks and rods, causing multiple injuries.

In the chaos, a young man was reportedly beaten to death. The injured were transported to a nearby hospital, where Ravi Kumar, the 25-year-old son of Anil Chaudhary from Punha village, was pronounced dead by doctors. Upon receiving news of the incident, Rahui police promptly arrived at the scene and took swift action, detaining 11 individuals from the accused party for interrogation.

Sanjay Kumar Jaiswal, the Deputy Superintendent of Police, stated that the altercation involved members of the Chaudhary and Balmiki Chaudhary families. Several people were injured, and one young man succumbed to his injuries during treatment. A forensic team has been called to gather evidence from the scene. Currently, the situation in the village is under control, with police forces deployed as a precautionary measure. Authorities are conducting raids to apprehend the suspects and are thoroughly investigating the case.
