Nearly 90% of AIADMK Workers Ready to Join TVK, Claims Minister Arjun

Chennai, May 28: In a bold statement, Tamil Nadu’s ruling party minister, Aadhav Arjun, announced on Thursday that approximately 90% of AIADMK officials and workers are prepared to join the TVK party. He emphasized that TVK has emerged as the “true political future” of the state.

This announcement was made during an event held at the TVK headquarters in Panaiyur, where numerous members from smaller regional organizations and trade unions formally joined the TVK. Over 100 individuals, led by Kamalakannan, president of the Anna Trade Union, became new party members. Senior leader and minister N. Anand was also present at the event.

Arjun remarked that Tamil Nadu is undergoing unprecedented political change, asserting that TVK has rapidly gained public trust since forming the government. “Last month, we met with several leaders and indicated we would reconvene after forming the government. Today, that discussion has become a reality,” he stated.

He praised senior TVK leader K.A. Sengottaiyan, recalling how critics mocked him when he joined the party, but now his decision is proving to be correct.

Arjun noted, “After M.G. Ramachandran and Jayalalithaa, now leader Vijay has reached Fort St. George to form the government.” He claimed that both DMK and AIADMK have failed to provide effective governance, while Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay has begun taking steps to eliminate corruption and the culture of commissions in the state.

Defending the TVK-led coalition government, he described it as a broad secular alliance of parties with diverse ideologies. He challenged the opposition’s criticism, questioning how AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami could claim political legitimacy with limited support in the assembly.

Addressing recent political developments and discussions of party-switching, Arjun stated that TVK has not offered any inducements or positions to any legislators. “If any MLA wishes to join the party, they must resign first and honestly join TVK, then engage with the public. We will welcome them,” he added.

He asserted that only TVK is following the welfare-oriented political path shown by former Chief Minister M.G. Ramachandran and predicted significant changes in Tamil Nadu’s political landscape in the coming weeks.

Arjun concluded, “If you want to know what is coming next, write this down. Within a month, 90% of AIADMK members will join TVK.”
