BJP Appoints Abhishek Debroy as New State President in Tripura

Agartala, May 28: In a significant shift in Tripura’s political landscape, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has appointed Abhishek Debroy as the new state president. This decision was made on Thursday, replacing Rajiv Bhattacharya, a sitting Rajya Sabha MP.

Arun Singh, the BJP’s national general secretary, announced the appointment through an official notification. Nitin Naveen, the party president, has entrusted Debroy with this crucial role within the state party structure.

The appointment of a new state president for the BJP in Tripura had been anticipated for some time. Several leaders’ names had been in circulation for this important organizational position over the past few months.

At 44 years old, Abhishek Debroy is a first-time legislator. He secured his seat in the Tripura Assembly by winning the Matabari constituency in Gomati district during the 2023 assembly elections.

Currently, he is a member of the BJP’s Tripura state committee and has previously held the position of president of the party’s Gomati district unit.

A graduate in pharmacy, Debroy entered politics in 2001 through student politics and youth movements. Before joining the BJP in 2017, he held various responsibilities in the Congress’s student organization, NSUI, and later in the Youth Congress.

Tripura’s Chief Minister Manik Saha, outgoing state president Rajiv Bhattacharya, and several senior party leaders congratulated Debroy on his new role.

On social media platform X, Chief Minister Saha expressed, “Heartfelt congratulations to Abhishek Debroy on being appointed as the state president of Tripura BJP. I am confident that under his leadership, the party will grow stronger and work with full dedication for the welfare of the state’s people. I wish him a successful tenure.”

Rajiv Bhattacharya also shared his congratulations on social media, stating, “Heartfelt congratulations to Abhishek Debroy on his appointment as the state president of Tripura BJP. I believe that with his leadership and organizational acumen, the party will become even stronger and work diligently for the welfare of the people of Tripura.”
