Patna, May 28: A violent incident occurred at Patna Medical College and Hospital on Thursday morning, involving security guards and patients over a motorcycle parking dispute. The altercation resulted in two individuals sustaining head injuries, while a woman was also pushed around.
According to reports, the incident took place near the emergency ward in the presence of police officers. Witnesses stated that Vimal Kumar, a resident of Kanchanpur in Bihta, was parking his motorcycle around 10:30 AM when guards confronted him, leading to a heated argument. As tensions escalated, multiple guards attacked Vimal, causing him to suffer severe injuries and fall to the ground.
Vimal lay on the road for an extended period while the guards continued their aggressive behavior. During this time, Prem Kumar, who had brought his wife to the hospital for treatment, attempted to assist Vimal but was also assaulted by the guards, resulting in serious injuries to his head. Both injured individuals received first aid at the hospital.
Following the incident, anger erupted within the hospital premises. Many accused the guards at Patna Medical College and Hospital of routinely mistreating patients and their families, with little action taken by the administration. Several individuals expressed that this incident highlights the negligence of hospital authorities.
Dr. Rajeev Kumar Singh, the superintendent of Patna Medical College and Hospital, described the event as deeply unfortunate. He stated, “There is no place for violence in the hospital. We have gathered all the information regarding the incident. A fair investigation will be conducted, and strict action will be taken against those responsible. We will pay special attention to prevent such incidents in the future.”
Tension filled the hospital after the incident, with family members of patients questioning the security measures in place and how guards were allowed to engage in violence despite the presence of police officers.
Local residents have demanded the immediate suspension of the guilty guards and the implementation of better security measures within the hospital to ensure that patients and their families do not face such incidents again.
