Gulf Nations Condemn Irans Missile Attack on Kuwait

Kuwait, May 28: The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran claimed early this morning that it targeted a U.S. military base, although the location was initially undisclosed. It has now been revealed that the military installation was situated in Kuwait. The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has expressed strong opposition to Iran’s actions.

U.S. Central Command reported that Iran launched ballistic missiles at Kuwait, which were intercepted by the Kuwaiti military. The U.S. has labeled this as a serious violation of the ceasefire.

According to CENTCOM, the missile was fired towards Kuwait at 10:17 PM on May 27. Just hours before the missile attack, Iran sent five one-way attack drones near the Strait of Hormuz, all of which were intercepted by U.S. forces.

CENTCOM also stated that American troops prevented the launch of a sixth drone from an Iranian ground control site located in Bandar Abbas. The U.S. military emphasized its vigilance in protecting its personnel and interests against Iranian aggression.

In light of rising tensions in the Middle East, several Gulf nations have condemned the missile attack on the U.S. airbase in Kuwait. The United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia have called the attack a “clear violation” of Kuwait’s sovereignty.

However, the UAE explicitly labeled the incident a “terrorist attack” in its statement. The foreign ministries of the three nations issued statements on social media affirming their support for any measures taken to ensure Kuwait’s security, stability, and sovereignty.

Meanwhile, GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohammad Al Budawi condemned the attack, stating that such actions violate international law, the United Nations Charter, and the principles of good neighborly relations. He reaffirmed that all GCC member states stand firmly with Kuwait in safeguarding its security and the well-being of its citizens and residents.

Reports indicate that this attack was a response to a U.S. strike on an Iranian drone base near Bandar Abbas in southern Iran, where CENTCOM claimed to have downed several Iranian drones. In retaliation, the IRGC announced the attack on the military base.
