
Dhaka, May 28: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his warm wishes for Eid-ul-Azha (Bakrid) to his Bangladeshi counterpart, Tarique Rahman, and the people of Bangladesh on Thursday. He expressed New Delhi’s commitment to enhancing mutual cooperation across various sectors.
According to the Bangladeshi newspaper The Daily Star, Modi’s letter shared by the Indian High Commission in Dhaka highlighted that this sacred festival is a significant part of India’s rich and diverse cultural heritage, celebrated with joy and enthusiasm by millions of Muslims across the country.
He noted that the festival embodies enduring values such as sacrifice, compassion, and brotherhood, which are essential for fostering a peaceful and inclusive world. Modi emphasized the deep partnership between India and Bangladesh, rooted in shared sacrifices, cultural similarities, and mutual goals of peace, stability, and development.
In his message, he stated, “The Government of India is ready to work with the Government of Bangladesh to strengthen people-centric cooperation across various sectors. Our shared vision, reflected in our national development goals, is for the mutual benefit of our peoples.”
Wishing Rahman good health and prosperity, Modi expressed hope for the continuous progress and well-being of the people of Bangladesh.
In response, Rahman thanked PM Modi for his kind wishes and expressed hope that the bilateral relations between the two countries would continue to strengthen based on mutual respect, friendship, and goodwill.
The Prime Minister’s Office of Bangladesh posted on its social media platform, “I thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for congratulating me and the people of Bangladesh on the joyous occasion of Eid-ul-Azha. The relationship between the people of Bangladesh and India continues to strengthen on the foundation of mutual respect, friendship, and goodwill.”
