Major Breakthrough in Anand Parvat Murder Case: Main Accused Arrested by Delhi Crime Branch

New Delhi, May 28: The Delhi Police Crime Branch made a significant breakthrough on Thursday by arresting the main suspect in a brutal stabbing murder case. This arrest is linked to a report filed earlier this month at the Anand Parvat police station.

The West Range-I unit of the Crime Branch apprehended the main accused and a minor in connection with the murder of a 21-year-old named Sagar. He was attacked multiple times with a knife on the night of May 14 and 15 due to a prior feud. The case was registered under sections 103(1) and 3(5) of the Indian Penal Code at the Anand Parvat police station.

According to police reports, the arrest of the suspects has strengthened the prosecution’s case, bringing the investigation closer to a logical conclusion. Authorities are continuing their inquiry to uncover the sequence of events and identify the roles of any accomplices.

The primary suspect has been identified as Himanshu Tiwari, a resident of Baljeet Nagar in Patel Nagar, Delhi. A minor, referred to as “S,” was also detained under the provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act.

This case revolves around the murder of Sagar, who was allegedly attacked by Tiwari and his associates due to an old rivalry. Following the crime, the suspects fled to Rajasthan to evade arrest.

Head Constable Naveen received information on the night of May 25 and 26 that the fugitive Himanshu Tiwari would be near West Side Mall in Rajouri Garden. Acting on this tip-off, a special team from the Crime Branch was formed, led by Inspector Prakash Chand, with officers including SI Amit Kumar, Head Constable Naveen, Vinod Kumar, and Constable Krishna, all working under the supervision of ACP Rajkumar.

The police team set up a trap near West Side Mall and successfully apprehended 19-year-old Himanshu Tiwari. During the operation, the minor was also taken into custody in accordance with legal provisions.

During interrogation, Tiwari revealed that he, along with his associates, attacked Sagar due to their longstanding enmity. After the murder, he attempted to escape arrest by fleeing to Rajasthan.

Police officials stated that Tiwari returned to Delhi to collect money and meet an accomplice, which led to his eventual capture by the Crime Branch team.

According to police sources, Tiwari was studying before he fell into bad company at a young age. Due to his past grievances and criminal associations, he became involved in this murder case. After the incident, he kept changing his location to avoid capture until he was finally arrested by the Crime Branch.

Following the completion of legal formalities, Tiwari was arrested under section 35.1(c) of the Indian Citizen Security Code. Proceedings concerning the minor were conducted in accordance with the Juvenile Justice Act.

Both suspects were subsequently presented before the court and the relevant Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), and were later handed over to the Anand Parvat police for further necessary legal action.
