Anand Mohan Expresses Discontent Over Sons Ministerial Status in Bihar

Patna, May 28: Former MP and influential leader Anand Mohan has publicly voiced his dissatisfaction with the leadership of the Janata Dal (United) as the Bihar government recently granted his son, JD(U) MLA Chetan Anand, the status of a deputy minister.

During a media interaction in Patna, Anand Mohan stated that he carefully considers his statements and stands by each one. He accused certain media outlets of misrepresenting his remarks. “I speak thoughtfully and remain firm on my statements,” he asserted.

In recent days, Anand Mohan has alleged that “money politics” is prevalent within the JD(U). When asked about this, he sharply responded, “I do not find it necessary to respond to every barking dog.”

He has consistently claimed that influential leaders within the JD(U) distribute party positions and ministerial roles based on favoritism and financial influence. He emphasized that fundamental questions should be answered directly without attempts to obfuscate or weaken them.

Political analysts believe Anand Mohan is frustrated that his son, Chetan Anand, was not included in the Bihar cabinet as a full minister. Commenting on Chetan’s deputy minister status, Anand Mohan remarked, “I have said before that a deputy minister is like a silent chief minister. So, what is a deputy minister?”

When questioned about the possibility of forming a new political party, he refrained from giving a direct answer, stating, “Let time reveal everything. Why should I disclose my thoughts now?”

Following his comments, speculation about potential political realignment or rebellion within the JD(U) has intensified. Anand Mohan also claimed that some party leaders have undermined Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s political legacy and years of hard work.

He stated, “Those dishonest individuals who have tarnished Nitish Kumar’s lifelong efforts should leave the party.” Without naming anyone, he hinted that certain individuals, who received electoral tickets before formally joining the party, now hold influential positions within the organization.

For a long time, there have been discussions in political circles about Anand Mohan’s strained relations with senior JD(U) leaders, particularly Lalan Singh and Sanjay Jha.

A prominent and controversial figure in Bihar politics, Anand Mohan was convicted in 1994 for the murder of then-Gopalganj District Magistrate G. Krishnaiah and sentenced to life imprisonment. He was released in 2023. Currently, his wife, Lovely Anand, serves as a Lok Sabha MP, while his son, Chetan Anand, is a JD(U) MLA.
