New Delhi, March 31: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has reacted to the claims made by Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav regarding the BJP’s poor performance in the West Bengal elections.
Naqvi pointed out that Yadav has made similar predictions in the past. He recalled Yadav’s hasty statements during the Bihar elections, where he predicted the BJP’s downfall and anticipated that Tejashwi Yadav’s party would form the government. However, the election results told a different story. Naqvi quipped, “We need divine protection from such so-called prophets.”
In addition, Naqvi targeted West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. He noted that Banerjee once campaigned on the slogan of ‘Maa, Mati, Manush’ (Mother, Land, People), yet she has failed to ensure the safety of ‘Maa’, empower ‘Manush’, or uphold the dignity of ‘Mati’. As elections approach, he stated, she is now raising issues like ‘meat, fish, and Muslims’.
It is noteworthy that Banerjee recently accused the BJP of engaging in ‘politics of food’ during a rally in Purulia. She warned that if the BJP comes to power, the people of the state would lose their freedom to eat fish, meat, and eggs.
Naqvi also criticized the Congress party, asserting that its policies on Naxalism and terrorism have always been contradictory, confused, and submissive. This has allowed these issues to persist in the country for an extended period.
He emphasized that since 2014, there has been a significant change in the situation, with efforts now focused on eradicating Naxalism and terrorism at their roots.
Furthermore, Naqvi clarified the government’s stance on the issue of infiltration. He stated that no country can overlook infiltrators, and identifying them has been a priority for the government.
