Colombo, May 20: The Indian men’s U-19 cricket team will tour Sri Lanka in July 2026. This tour will feature a bilateral series consisting of three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and two four-day matches. The announcement was made by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) on Wednesday.
The Indian U-19 team is scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka on June 30. The series will kick off on July 4 with the first 50-over match at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium (MRICS) in Hambantota. The second and third ODIs will also take place at the same venue on July 6 and July 9, respectively.
Following the ODIs, the four-day series will commence. The first match is set to be played from July 13 to 16 at the Galle International Cricket Stadium. The second four-day match will be held from July 20 to 23 at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo.
This series is expected to provide valuable experience to the next generation of cricketers from both countries, especially as India comes off a victory in the Men’s U-19 World Cup held in Zimbabwe and Namibia earlier this year.
After the Sri Lanka tour, the Indian U-19 team will host Australia. A series of three ODIs will take place in Rajkot on September 18, 21, and 23. Following this, the focus will shift to the longer format, with two four-day matches scheduled to start on September 27 in Rajkot and October 5 in Ahmedabad.
Fifteen-year-old opener Vaibhav SuryaVanshi will be age-eligible for the series against Sri Lanka and Australia. He first gained attention during India’s U-19 series against Australia in 2024, where he scored a remarkable 104 runs off 62 balls in a youth Test match at just 13 years of age.
Currently, Vaibhav SuryaVanshi is part of the Rajasthan Royals (RR) team in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The IPL 2026 final is set for May 31, after which he will participate in a 50-over tri-series in Sri Lanka from June 9 to 21, representing India-A. Vaibhav has played a crucial role in helping India secure the Men’s U-19 World Cup title in 2026.
