New Delhi, May 20: A political controversy has intensified following Rahul Gandhi’s controversial remarks directed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. Several Chief Ministers from BJP-ruled states have condemned Gandhi’s statements, labeling them as inappropriate and demanding a public apology.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took to social media platform X, stating that the remarks from Congress’s “Yuvraj” reflect his negative politics, lack of restraint, and disrespect for democratic values. He emphasized that Gandhi’s disparaging comments insult the mandate, trust, and democratic ethos of 1.45 billion citizens. Adityanath insisted that Gandhi should publicly apologize for his objectionable and unparliamentary statements.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta remarked that these comments stem from Gandhi’s failures. She suggested that he should read the Constitution he often carries. Gupta criticized Gandhi’s language as indicative of his low thinking and upbringing, asserting that the nation knows who has betrayed it.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma echoed the call for an immediate apology, describing Gandhi’s remarks as extremely condemnable. He noted that while ideological differences are acceptable in a democracy, such disrespectful language towards the country’s top leadership showcases Congress’s despair and declining political mindset. Sharma accused the opposition of losing its decorum and mental balance, focusing only on dividing society and spreading chaos.
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini also launched a sharp attack on Gandhi. He stated that Gandhi’s comments reveal a loss of decorum, sensitivity, and mental balance in political opposition. Saini emphasized that Gandhi’s remarks insult not only the highest constitutional offices but also the feelings and democratic values of 1.4 billion citizens. He called for Gandhi to publicly apologize for his irresponsible statement and seek help from a competent doctor for his mental balance.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami commented on social media that Gandhi’s remarks reflect Congress’s despair and declining political thinking. He stated that while dissent is a right in democracy, using derogatory language against the highest leadership is shameful. Dhami pointed out that the public has repeatedly rejected Congress’s negative politics, yet the party remains trapped in chaos and divisive politics.
Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary condemned Gandhi’s statement as unfortunate, reflecting his anarchist thinking. He noted that Gandhi’s continuous electoral defeats and despair are now evident in his words and behavior. Chaudhary criticized the Gandhi family for corruption during their rule and questioned their commitment to national interest and democracy. He asserted that Gandhi has insulted not just the Prime Minister but also the sentiments of 1.4 billion citizens, demanding a public apology.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that the public has repeatedly made it clear who the real “traitor” is, referring to Gandhi’s comments on leaders who make firm and decisive decisions for national interest. He dismissed Gandhi’s qualifications to comment on national leadership, labeling him as “rejected material” by the public.
Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya remarked on social media that the successful Prime Minister and Home Minister are “self-respecting” leaders. He claimed that calling them “traitors” reveals Gandhi’s mental bankruptcy. Maurya noted that after each electoral defeat, Gandhi’s temperament seems to worsen, leading him to make nonsensical statements. He reminded Gandhi that under his leadership, Congress is nearing a “century of losses.”
