
Thiruvananthapuram, May 20: Following the formation of the new government in Kerala, the allocation of ministerial departments was completed on Wednesday. Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan has retained the Finance and Ports departments under his purview.
Senior leader Ramesh Chennithala has been assigned the responsibilities of the Home and Vigilance departments. The distribution of key departments in the new cabinet has been balanced among coalition partners and senior leaders. K. Muraleedharan has been given charge of the Health and Devaswom departments, while senior IUML leader P.K. Kunhalikutty will oversee the Industry and IT ministries.
KPCC President Sani Joseph has been entrusted with the Electricity and Parliamentary Affairs departments. A.P. Anil Kumar will manage the Revenue department.
The new government has also appointed young faces to significant roles. P.C. Vishnunath will handle the Tourism, Culture, and Cinema departments. M. Liju has been assigned the Excise and Cooperation departments, while Roji M. John has been appointed as the Minister of Higher Education.
Additionally, T. Siddique will oversee the Agriculture department. Bindu Krishna has been given charge of Labor, Animal Husbandry, and Women and Child Development ministries, while O.J. Janish will serve as the Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs.
The IUML has also secured important positions in the government. N. Shamsudheen will manage the General Education department, K.M. Shaji will oversee Local Self-Government, P.K. Basheer will be in charge of the Public Works department, and V.E. Abdul Gafoor will handle the Fisheries department.
Leaders from coalition parties have also been included in the cabinet. Mons Joseph has been assigned the Irrigation and Housing departments, while Anoop Jacob will manage the Food and Civil Supplies department.
Shibu Baby John will oversee the Forest, Wildlife Conservation, and Skill Development ministries. C.P. John will serve as the Transport Minister, while K.A. Thulasi will handle the development of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes.
