Drug Trafficker Arrested in Ganderbal, Jammu and Kashmir

Ganderbal, May 20: The Ganderbal police in Jammu and Kashmir have apprehended a drug trafficker and seized illegal substances within the jurisdiction of the Safapora police station.

A snap checkpoint was established near the silk production farm in Kulpora by the Safapora police station. During the checkpoint, a suspicious individual traveling from Nainara-Sumbal towards Safapora attempted to flee upon noticing the police. The vigilant team promptly acted and arrested him on the spot.

The accused has been identified as Yawar Rashid Wani, also known as Kamran, son of Abdul Rashid Wani, a resident of Wani Mohalla, Safapora. A search revealed approximately 7 grams of a substance resembling heroin, leading to his immediate arrest.

Accordingly, a case has been registered at the Safapora police station under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and further investigations are underway.

The Ganderbal police remain committed to eradicating the menace of drugs and continuously appeal for public cooperation and support in this collective fight against substance abuse.

In a related effort under the Drug-Free Jammu and Kashmir campaign, Ganderbal police achieved significant success by arresting three drug traffickers within the jurisdiction of the Khirbawani police station, seizing heroin-like substances in the process.

During routine checkpoint inspections at Dumkadal Chowk, a Scorpio vehicle traveling from Ganderbal to Barsu was stopped. Upon thorough searching of the vehicle and its occupants, heroin-like substances were discovered. All suspects were arrested on-site, and the drugs were confiscated in accordance with legal procedures.

The accused have been identified as Jahangir Ahmad Jan, also known as Jana, Junaid Zahoor Bhat, and Jahangir Ahmad Bhat.

A case has been registered at the Khirbawani police station under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and further investigations are ongoing.
