Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Claims He Handed Over His Son to Police

Hyderabad, May 20: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, has once again claimed that he handed over his son to the police in connection with a POCSO case.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Kumar stated that he cooperated with the investigation by surrendering his son to the authorities. He questioned if anyone had ever seen a father turn his own son over to the police.

This assertion contradicts a statement from the Cyberabad police, which reported that Bandi Bhagirath was arrested on the night of May 16 in Narsingi. He was later presented before a magistrate, who remanded him to 14 days of judicial custody.

Following his son’s arrest, Bandi Sanjay visited the state BJP office for the first time. Party workers and supporters welcomed him warmly.

When asked about demands from other parties for his resignation, he responded that the BRS has no MPs in the Lok Sabha. He criticized KCR, stating that his party lacks representation and that he makes baseless claims from his farmhouse.

Kumar asserted that KCR’s corrupt empire is crumbling from its roots. He accused KCR of spreading false propaganda against him due to the end of his family’s rule. He also claimed that KTR operates a fake social media factory.

Bandi Sanjay dismissed reports suggesting he plans to form a new political party. He emphasized that every member of the BJP is a disciplined worker. He mentioned that if you ask a dedicated party worker about their last wish, they would express a desire to be wrapped in the BJP flag after death.

On May 15, the Telangana High Court denied Bhagirath interim relief from arrest. A case was registered against him on May 8 at the Pet Bashirabad police station under the POCSO Act for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl.

The case was filed under Section 11 of the POCSO Act (read with Section 12) and Sections 74 and 75 of the BN Act. Following the investigation, officials spoke with the victim, leading to the addition of more stringent charges under the POCSO Act.

The police issued a notice to Bhagirath, instructing him to appear before the investigating officer on May 13. He failed to appear but requested a two-day extension via a letter. After the High Court denied him relief, the police arrested him.

Authorities reported that he confessed to the crime of sexually assaulting a minor girl, which led to his arrest.
