After the arrest of a foreign citizen named Abdul Karim in Morajar, Hojai, shocking revelations have come to light. Abdul Kalam is not his real name. He tried to become an Indian citizen by using the name of a deceased person, but was eventually arrested. Notably, the person claiming to be Abdul Kalam was found with an Indian passport, Aadhar card, PAN card, and other documents.

On Wednesday, Abdul Kalam went to the Morajar village panchayat office in search of a permanent residence certificate. Suspicious during the conversation, Panchayat Secretary Muzammil Haque informed the police.

Police arrested the suspect and, after interrogation, also detained a person named Abdur Raub. Abdul Kalam had claimed Abdur Raub of Hathikhali village in Morajar as his father. The foreign national managed to get all documents in the name of Abdur Raub’s deceased son, Abdul Kalam. Another person, Fakhr Uddin, who allegedly helped prepare these documents with Abdur Raub, has also been arrested by the police.

It is noteworthy that in 2010, Abdur Raub’s son Abdul Kalam died in Meghalaya. The arrested foreigner had brought Abdul Kalam’s body to Hathikhali village in Morajar. During this time, he developed close ties with Abdur Raub’s family. Reportedly, with the help of some family members, the foreign national got documents prepared in Abdul Kalam’s name.

After the arrest, startling facts have come to light. His passport bears a Pakistani visa. He used to travel to places such as Delhi, Varanasi, and Kolkata. The foreigner does not know Assamese, Bengali, or any other local languages. Police are intensively questioning him to determine which country he belongs to and whether he was working for any banned organisation.

Local groups and organisations have praised Panchayat Secretary Muzammil Haque for acting as a responsible citizen.

On the other hand, information suggests that the suspicious person took shelter in the homes of locals and worked as a labourer. The police are thoroughly investigating the matter. However, his real name and nationality have not yet been formally confirmed.
