Remembering Bhagat Singh: A Tribute on Martyrs Day in New Delhi

New Delhi, March 23: On the occasion of Martyrs’ Day, a heartfelt tribute was paid to the great revolutionaries Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev at the Delhi Assembly complex on Monday. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta honored their sacrifices by offering floral tributes.

Yadavinder Singh Sandhu, the grandson of martyr Bhagat Singh, was also present at the event. In his address, he recalled that on March 23, 1931, the British executed Bhagat Singh in secrecy. They believed this would mark the end of his legacy, but his thoughts and sacrifices remain alive today. He asserted that Bhagat Singh will always be immortal and will forever reside in the hearts of the nation.

Yadavinder Singh Sandhu praised the Delhi government’s efforts to honor the martyrs. He emphasized that this initiative is vital for those who wish to understand Bhagat Singh and his ideologies deeply. He extended congratulations and best wishes to everyone involved in the event.

Minister Ravinder Inderjit Singh remarked that Martyrs’ Day is a day to remember the brave sons of the nation. He highlighted the historical significance of the assembly corridor, where slogans of “Inquilab Zindabad” once echoed and cases related to Bhagat Singh were heard.

He mentioned that a statue of Bhagat Singh has been erected at this historic site, providing an opportunity for the youth to learn about his life and struggles. This initiative is led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and PWD Minister Parvesh Verma.

The event has become a symbol of patriotism and respect for the martyrs, attracting a large number of participants who collectively paid homage to the sacrifices of the revolutionaries.

Additionally, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta unveiled a grand statue of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh at the RCS office on Parliament Street. She also inaugurated the restored “Historic Court Trial Room” within the complex.

Chief Minister Gupta stated that this statue serves as an inspiration for the youth and future generations, embodying the revolutionary spirit that broke the chains of slavery and dedicated everything to the service of Mother India. This historic site is where Bhagat Singh’s trial took place, and the “Court Trial Room” stands as a living symbol of indomitable courage, unwavering passion, and fervent nationalism that shook the foundations of British rule. The nation will always be indebted to his great sacrifice.

Prominent attendees included Yadavinder Singh Sandhu, National President of the Bhagat Singh Brigade, along with cabinet colleagues Parvesh Sahib Singh, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Ravinder Inderjit Singh, and Kapil Mishra.
