New Delhi, May 10: BJP MP Yogendra Chandoliya and Dharmbir Singh responded to Congress’s criticism regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s calls for support of the Women’s Reservation Bill. They also addressed accusations against opposition parties concerning governance and financial mismanagement.
In an interview with a news agency, Chandoliya stated, “Prime Minister Modi appealed to opposition parties in the Lok Sabha to support the Women’s Reservation Bill. Despite this, leaders from opposition parties, including Rahul Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav, and TMC, opposed the bill. The first lesson was learned in West Bengal, where despite having a female Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee was defeated by BJP by a significant margin. The primary reason for Mamata’s loss was her opposition to the Women’s Bill.”
He further added, “In the Himachal Pradesh elections, the Chief Minister made numerous promises and tempted the people. While they formed the government, today they lack funds to pay salaries. Rahul Gandhi seems unconcerned. The situation in Karnataka is dire. In Tamil Nadu, Congress revealed its true colors by abandoning DMK and supporting Vijay’s party.”
BJP MP Dharmbir Singh remarked, “Prime Minister Modi urged opposition parties to support the Women’s Reservation Bill, promising them credit for it. Yet, opposition parties failed to pass the bill. As a result, wherever elections are taking place, Congress and other opposition parties are losing. In the coming days, Congress will face even more setbacks.”
Regarding Congress’s failure to announce a candidate for Kerala’s Chief Minister, Singh stated, “Their party is merely nominal. There are many factions within it. In Delhi, there are various groups, some demanding leadership roles.”
The BJP MP concluded, “From an administrative perspective, in states where Congress has been in power, they have failed to establish good governance. They may have made promises, but where is the funding? The situation in Himachal Pradesh was similar. Since 2014, the budget of previous governments was only 13 lakh crore rupees, while the BJP government’s budget has surged to nearly 52 lakh crore rupees. The BJP government has curbed tax evasion.”
