Jaipur, May 24: A tragic incident unfolded in Dholpur, Rajasthan, where a severe fire broke out due to a short circuit, engulfing multiple homes in mere moments. The blaze resulted in the complete destruction of several families’ belongings, including grains and other valuable items.
Upon noticing the fire, villagers promptly alerted the electricity department to cut off the power supply, preventing a potential disaster. A large number of residents gathered at the scene, using water tankers, submersible pumps, and buckets to combat the flames. Despite strong winds, the villagers’ swift action managed to contain the fire from spreading throughout the entire settlement. Firefighters arrived shortly after and successfully extinguished the blaze, but by then, everything had already turned to ashes.
Reports indicate that the fire consumed 40 quintals of wheat belonging to Rajan Singh, son of Katar Singh, as well as 120 quintals of fodder, two makeshift homes, 400 bundles of straw used for construction, 100 kilograms of water, 50 pipeline pipes, five cots, and various household items—all lost in an instant. The affected families have lost their entire livelihoods, including important documents and animal feed.
Initial assessments suggest that the families impacted by this short circuit incident have suffered losses amounting to several lakhs of rupees. Local police and revenue teams arrived at the scene shortly after the incident, speaking with victims to compile a report on the damages, which will be sent to higher authorities. Meanwhile, villagers are urging the administration to provide immediate financial assistance and appropriate compensation to the affected families.
