
Shimla, April 4: In a significant anti-drug operation, the police in Nalagarh, located in Himachal Pradesh’s Solan district, seized over 6 kilograms of cannabis and arrested one suspect on Saturday.
The Badhi police acted on a tip-off regarding an individual involved in the illegal drug trade. They discovered 6.128 kilograms of cannabis in the suspect’s backpack while he was staying in a rented room in the village of Kaduana.
The police team swiftly set up a trap and apprehended the suspect, identified as Jitendra Singh Ghosh, a 32-year-old resident of Mau Buzurg village in the Tikamgarh district of Madhya Pradesh.
During the search, the cannabis was found packed in a backpack. The police registered a case against the suspect under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and arrested him on the spot.
DSP Badhi, Yograj Chandel, stated that the suspect will be presented in court, and a thorough investigation is ongoing. The police emphasized their commitment to continuing the fight against drugs in the region, ensuring that anyone involved in such illegal activities will face consequences.
In a related incident on the same day, police in Mahasamund district, Chhattisgarh, achieved a significant breakthrough in their anti-drug operations. The Anti-Narcotic Task Force, in collaboration with the Singoda police, seized a large quantity of cannabis being trafficked from Odisha to Maharashtra, arresting five traffickers in the process.
In total, goods worth over ₹2.06 crore were confiscated, including 281.900 kilograms of cannabis valued at ₹1.40 crore.
