Amit Shah Praises NDRF for Earning Trust and Love Worldwide

Ghaziabad, May 14: In a ceremony honoring the NDRF with the ‘President’s Colors’ award, Union Home Minister Amit Shah commended the force for earning love and trust wherever they go, both nationally and internationally.

Amit Shah stated that receiving the President’s Colors award is a recognition of the NDRF’s service, courage, valor, and dedication over the years. He highlighted that the NDRF and NDMA have successfully placed India on the global map in disaster rescue over the past two decades. This achievement is a matter of pride for everyone, especially for me as the Home Minister of the country. Whenever a disaster strikes, the arrival of NDRF personnel brings relief to the public, assuring them of their safety.

He also congratulated all CAPF personnel for planting over 7 million trees across the country before the monsoon season. This initiative symbolizes the humanitarian approach and environmental awareness of the CAPFs. Under PM Modi’s leadership, we are now moving towards zero casualties in disaster management. Our goal is to ensure the safety of lives and property wherever a disaster is anticipated.

Amit Shah emphasized that under PM Modi’s guidance, India has taken a global lead in ‘Disaster Resilient Infrastructure’. Currently, 48 countries are members of the CDRI, collaborating with India in this area. India has emerged as a global leader and first responder in disaster management, embodying the principle of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’.

The ten-point agenda presented by the Modi government has provided a new direction for disaster risk management in the country. It has strengthened areas such as risk mapping, early warning systems, community participation, and the creation of guidelines. Previously, disaster management was limited to relief efforts after a disaster occurred. Now, our approach is proactive and productive, focusing on prevention rather than just reaction.

Amit Shah mentioned that the NDRF has trained over 8,500 personnel, more than 10,000 civil defense workers, and over 220,000 volunteers. In the last two years, over 10,500 sailors have also been trained. The Home Ministry is effectively preparing to tackle serious challenges like heat waves, aiming to reduce casualties to zero in the coming years.

He concluded by stating that the NDRF has set an exemplary standard by saving not only citizens but also the animals living alongside them. Our goal is to achieve zero loss of life and minimize damage to property.
