Rajkot, May 14: A tragic accident in Rajkot, Gujarat, has resulted in the deaths of at least four individuals, while approximately ten others sustained injuries. The incident occurred on the Chotila-Rajkot National Highway, where a bus caught fire after colliding with a tanker.
According to reports, a tire of the tanker, which was loaded with asphalt, burst near Sanghani village in Chotila taluka, causing it to lose control. At that moment, a travel bus passing by collided with the tanker. A short circuit following the crash ignited the bus, leading to chaos.
The fire rapidly escalated, prompting efforts to evacuate passengers from the bus. Unfortunately, several individuals were caught in the flames. The police and fire brigade were alerted, but by the time they arrived, the bus was already consumed by fire. The bus was en route from Ahmedabad to Rajkot, carrying around 40 passengers, most of whom were rescued.
The fire brigade managed to extinguish the flames, but tragically, four people had already lost their lives, and about ten were injured. The injured were transported to a hospital for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were taken into custody.
Officials reported that the injured were referred to Rajkot Civil Hospital for further treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were placed at Chotila Referral Hospital. As of now, the identities of the deceased have not been confirmed.
Earlier this week, another tragic accident occurred in Tiruppur, Tamil Nadu, where six people died in a collision between a car and a lorry. According to police, this incident took place near the Karur National Highway police station when officers were attempting to remove a lorry that had collided with a divider.
