Rome, May 14: Inter Milan secured their 10th Coppa Italia title with a 2-0 victory against Lazio. This win marks a historic “domestic double” for Inter Milan this season.
Earlier in May, Inter Milan had already claimed their 21st Serie A title with three matches remaining. The first goal came from Marcus Thuram, whose impressive header deflected off Lazio’s Adam Marusic and found the back of the net from a corner taken by Federico Dimarco. Inter doubled their lead in the 35th minute when Lautaro Martinez scored from a brilliant pass by Denzel Dumfries into an open goal.
Following the emphatic win in the final against Lazio, Inter Milan’s manager Cristian Chivu shared his emotions in an interview. He stated, “Inter has won two trophies this season, and we deserved it because our campaign has been excellent. We are extremely happy with what we have achieved over the years.”
He added, “We are also pleased for our incredible fans and the club, who have always supported us. We will enjoy everything we have accomplished this season. Winning the league and Coppa Italia is not something to take lightly; lifting two trophies is never easy.”
Lautaro Martinez expressed, “This is a very necessary and meaningful win for us; bouncing back after last year was not easy. We have truly managed to create a significant season in terms of play, speed, performance, and results. I am happy because we are ending the year with two trophies; this has been very important for us. There has always been a lot of talk about Inter Milan in recent years, but we must continue on this path to win titles because that’s what we want: we have won two this season, and we are truly very happy.”
